General information Since 1999, Mercedes Fariña has been developing teaching activities in her own atelier, with stable groups that attend regularly. Regular classes can be taken once or twice a week, three hours a class. The groups are small and restricted. Vacancy are very limited, so we can provide students a personal guidance. This way we can optimize the learning process. Moreover, students can attend to three-days-seminars about specific themes (faces drawing, hands and feet, clothes, dead nature, among others). Some of these seminars are specifically made for beginners, others for advanced students who are insterested in improve their techniques. This form of seminar is an option usually taken by students who live in other provinces or outside Argentina because it is a two-days-in-a-row seminar. In the studio I teach the traditional figurative art technique, wich can be applied to nudes, still-life, landscapes, etc. The student´s first work will be make a replica of any great master of Plastic Arts, such as Caravaggio, Bouguereau, Murillo o Rafael, among others, according to the student´s preferences. In this work I teach the oil painting technique, working on coats, the study of color, the treatment of matter, blurring and drawing techniques. In the student´s fist lessons, he gets enough information so he can performe in any work he wants to undertake. Later, the student chooses the following works according to his interests, seeking images to paint. We also use the living model technique, this activity enriches the learning process of any artist who wants to experience the nude gender. In the studio we are looking for the harmony in the group and a good working climate, so in the moment of painting we can get optimum conditions to develope the learning process.
